Daily Devotionals

july 20, 2021

Our Peachtree Church email devotionals this week, July 19-23, will be written by Peachtree’s Children’s and Family Ministry staff.

Hear me, Lord, and answer me.

Psalm 86:1

When our strength is gone, how do we know we serve a God who is ever faithful? We know simply because every past experience of God’s goodness to us is a promise of His continued blessing. Our Almighty God hears us, moves on our behalf, and beautifully orchestrates our unique testimonies. Yet what about when it comes to our children battling the spiritual forces of evil in this dark world?

Knowing God hears our battle cries sometimes feels like it is not enough when we are worn from what has been and weary for what has yet to come for our little ones. It feels like everywhere we turn there are messages and invitations that dishonor God. Awareness of the unbiblical truths saturated within our culture should be paramount to us all. Whether it is children’s programming engrossed with false idols or wayward lyrics in a popular song, Satan’s attacks on our children are visible in broad daylight.

The very thought of our duty to engage in this spiritual warfare can be paralyzing at times, particularly when we have spiritual amnesia. Be encouraged, however, for you and I have witnessed the richness of God’s mercies and His relentless grace time and time again. Our battle cries are more than just mere prayers! They are our ultimate weapon against the darkness pressed against our children’s souls, bodies, and minds. Together, with a God who hears, we can lift the next generation’s gaze to see that the greatest treasure anyone can have is the treasure of God.

For Reflection

Take a moment to ponder your past and seek those moments when God’s grace blessed you with what you didn’t deserve. What comes to mind?

This week, seek ways to intercede for your child. What is your child reading and watching? With what are they and to what are they listening? How can you redeem biblical goodness and wholeness in your home?

Prayer

This day, Lord, help me to remember the battle I face may be more about what is unseen than what I see before me. Open my eyes so that I may intercede where I am called. Amen.
