Serve This Summer

At Urban Recipe, we believe that fighting food security is a process. We take a few key ingredients: Care, Responsibility, Courage, Community, and combine them with a focus on dignity to produce our model: the Urban Recipe Food Co-op.

In this model, co-op members take ownership of their food security, consistently showing up and participating in the food co-op. We provide a platform for leadership, food access, and community and our members bring the rest. The result: a food cooperative model that is a proven recipe for food security that reminds us that dignity tastes good.

Pallett and Pack Prep

Our volunteers are essential to Urban Recipe operations. We are grateful to welcome individuals, groups, youth and adults to serve at our warehouse. We have two primary opportunities to get involved: “Pallet Prep” and “Pack and Prep”

Our mission is to transform the lives of those at risk or victimized by sexual exploitation. Since 2001, we have provided trauma-informed care, including safe housing, therapy, education, and personal and professional development, to women and youth on their path toward healing and independence.

What began with one residential program has grown into a community of restoration, resilience, and hope. Through compassion, partnership, and the unwavering belief in the worth of every person, we continue to help individuals live and dream again.

Serve Days are designed for groups looking to come together and care for the youth and women at Wellspring Living through tangible, hands-on service.

During this specific project, volunteers will assist with a variety of outdoor tasks at our Village of Hope Campus.

Volunteer Tasks Include:

Agape’s mission is to empower children and families to discover, embrace, and achieve their full potential. We achieve this mission by focusing on academic achievement, reading proficiency by third grade, high school graduation, and post-graduation placement.

Books For Africa remains the largest shipper of donated text and library books to the African continent, shipping over 65 million books to all 55 countries on the African continent since 1988.  Last year alone, Books For Africa shipped over 2.8 million books, valued at over $28.5 million, to 36 countries—a 78% increase over the previous year. Over half a million digital books were also shipped on 163 computers and e-readers. Approximately $2.5 million was raised to ship these books to partners across Africa. Over 9,000 volunteers joined BFA staff in helping to pack these books for shipment to Africa.

If you are looking for a fun, satisfying volunteer experience, join us at Books For Africa’s warehouse! At BFA’s warehouse in Marietta, Georgia, volunteers sort and pack books according to category and age level. No heavy lifting is involved. Volunteers should be at least 14 years old.

The Atlanta/Marietta Fulfilment Center is open for volunteers Mondays through Fridays from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. There are both morning (9am to 11am) and afternoon (1pm to 3pm) shifts.
