Serve

Peachtree continues to step up in dramatic ways to serve in our community and around the world. You can help by sponsoring students in India and Malawi, helping to distribute much-needed food to local families, or tutoring students online. Please consider participating in one or all of the following opportunities.

Student Sponsorships

Through student sponsorship, you have the ability to walk with a student on their educational journey. Sponsoring a student is not just about changing their lives, it is about transforming the lives of their family, community, and your own life.

India

In India, education is provided by the government for children 7–14, but they are required to pay for all school books, supplies, meals, and state-regulated uniforms. These costs can be exorbitant and families often are unable to pay them.

Thank you to the generosity of the Peachtree Church community all of our India students have been sponsored for the 2021-22 school year. We do still have Malawi students in high school, technical school and college in need of a sponsor.

Malawi

In Malawi, the government provides free education through primary school. If a child wishes to go to high school or further in education, they must pay those fees themselves. In the Chitipa district the annual income for a family is $367 a year and a year of high school costs $250.

Atlanta

The Bill Maness Good Samaritan Scholarship celebrates and encourages Atlanta high school seniors to rise above their personal and financial challenges in order to help those in need. The Scholarship is awarded each year to a graduating, college-accepted senior who has a financial need, scholastic achievement, a strong determination to start and finish college, and is willing to accept a Mentor who will walk alongside, encourage, and guide their ‘Scholar’ for all four years.

Food Distribution for Urban Recipe

Our long-term friend and partner, Urban Recipe, is continuing to operate co-ops and support hundreds of additional families in the midst of Covid-19.

We are continuing to join in their packing and distributing efforts for families like our friends at Lake Forest Elementary! Volunteer needs are limited to 6 healthy people each shift at their warehouse. We will be socially distancing and wearing masks.

Online Tutoring for LaAmistad

LaAmistad, which simply means “the friendship,” is the premier organization serving Latinos in Atlanta. With an environment constructed around the premise of friendships and relationships, we foster educational excellence and help our students, parents, and families to achieve a better quality of life.

Show your love and support for students who need your help by volunteering in LaAmistad Afterschool's new virtual platform this fall!
