August Honour Academy Course

Sunday Morning Fall Course 2026: History as a Backdrop to HIS-story
Sunday Mornings August 2-30 / 9:45 / Fellowship Hall
The Bible did not emerge in a vacuum. Behind its stories, poems, prophecies, letters, and gospels stand real historical events that shaped the faith, struggles, and hopes of God’s people.
In this five-week Honour Academy course, we’ll explore five world-changing events that profoundly influenced the content and message of the Old and New Testaments. From the rise and fall of empires to exile, occupation, and cultural upheaval, we’ll discover how history became the backdrop for God’s unfolding story.
Along the way, we’ll learn how understanding the historical context of Scripture can deepen our reading of the Bible, illuminate difficult passages, and help us see familiar texts with fresh eyes. Whether you’re new to biblical studies or have been reading the Bible for years, this class will offer a fascinating journey through the events that helped shape the Scriptures we have today.
Join us as we explore the surprising intersection of faith, history, and the biblical story.
