God is Just
DAILY DWELL
“The Lord watches over the foreigner and sustains the fatherless and the widow…”
Psalm 146:9
Psalm 146
He upholds the cause of the oppressed
and gives food to the hungry.
The Lord sets prisoners free,
the Lord gives sight to the blind,
the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down,
the Lord loves the righteous.
The Lord watches over the foreigner
and sustains the fatherless and the widow,
but he frustrates the ways of the wicked.
(vv. 7–9)
Reflection Questions
- Take a moment to write your personal definition of justice. Afterward, reflect on how your understanding aligns with God’s view of justice.
- Can you identify individuals or groups in your life and globally who are oppressed and marginalized?
- In what ways are we responsible for caring for the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widow in our community?
- The Psalmist reminds us that the Lord “loves the righteous” (v. 8). How can your life better reflect God’s righteousness? How does that reflect God’s idea of justice?
