Dear Peachtree Family,

 

2020. Isn’t it amazing how much has changed this year, how many  things seem to have been put on hold?  That’s one of the reasons  I’m so very thankful for you and for our church community.

 

You didn’t stop. You didn’t give up.

 

Because of your faithfulness and generosity, despite the worldwide pandemic and economic crisis, Peachtree’s ministry not only continued, it grew and flourished.

 

In response to COVID-19, our church family stepped up in dramatic ways.  You compassionately provided food, healthcare, and education for hundreds of needy families, locally and globally. Through your generous support and the miracle of technology, Peachtree expanded its reach to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ all across our country and around the world.

 

As you look through this page, I encourage you to think about how God has been with us and worked through us, because we were willing to engage our Peachtree values:  Unexpected Togetherness, Disruptive Compassion, and Gentle Reverence.

 

Let us celebrate all that God has accomplished and contemplate how we can continue to support His work in these changing and uncertain times.

 

My prayer for all of us in the coming year reflects our current study of Ephesians in which Paul prays:

 

“…that Christ may dwell in your hearts…”

Unexpected is an understatement when it comes to 2020. Yet, while we all unexpectedly had to adjust to staying home, we also managed to stay together.

 

Online, on Zooms, on the phone. Behind masks and distanced. Our gifts of time, talent, and resources made Peachtree a nurturing and generous community, even in a crisis.

And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.

 

2 Corinthians 9:8

“…that Christ may dwell in your hearts…”

COVID-19 has certainly disrupted all of our lives. Yet, in a time when many might focus on their own needs, you sacrificially moved to help others, supporting and encouraging thousands of people, here at home and around the world.

 

Peachtree’s compassion continues to disrupt lives, restoring hope from despair, serenity from anxiety, and meeting necessity with provision.

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

 

Colossians 3:12

“…that Christ may dwell in your hearts…”

Perhaps one of the greatest blessings of this year has been the gift of time; time to reflect, time to listen, time to dive deep into God’s word. His gentle voice reminds us…

…To be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.

 

1 Timothy 6:18–19

“…that Christ may dwell in your hearts…”

Our season of encouragement continues as we embrace our role in God’s great restoration plan. As we envision more opportunity to encourage and inspire each other, our community, and life in Christ, will you join your faith community and ensure that Christ may dwell in our hearts? The blessings God bestows are provided so that we might bless others, within our Peachtree family, in the Atlanta community, and around the world.

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

 

Galatians 6:9-10

Together, let us pray this scripture from Paul’s letter to the Ephesians

I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
